Research contribution to theory:

The PhD thesis is examining how construction organisations influence government policy, and utilises an innovative methodology to address the research questions.

Research contribution to industry practice:

This research will contribute to industry practice both methodologically and practically. Methodologically, an innovative research design has been proposed to demonstrate the existence, structure and influence of networks of construction industry organisations on public policy. The use of novel research tactics addresses deficiencies identified in previous research, and will enable the triangulation of results and elicitation of the interaction and influence of inter-organisational networks of actors on policy processes.
Practically, the research will facilitate an improved understanding of inter-organisational relationships in the construction industry, and how these relationships in turn are able to influence government policy. In particular a better understanding of networks of inter-organisational relationships based on influence, knowledge and trust will have practical application to the areas of supply-chain management, risk management, procurement, innovation, knowledge management, as well as public policy.
