The CIB Task Group 58 is hosting a workshop “Leveraging Innovation for Sustainable Construction” and meeting 18-19 May, 2009 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. CEO for Construction Innovation Professor Keith Hampson is the co-coordinator of the task group.
The workshop will include keynote addresses from selected national and international speakers. The focus will be on documenting international examples of leveraging innovation in sustainability in the construction industry. Day two will include a meeting of TG58 members from across the world.
The workshop will be held at the University of Alberta campus in the new Markin/CNRL Natural Resources Engineering Facility (NREF). NREF is a state-of-the-art facility that houses the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the Hole School of Construction Engineering.
The workshop is expected to generate a CIB-badged, edited book of selected key papers from presenters.
Additional workshop opportunity
The CIB TG58 workshop will be followed by optional participation in the Construction Owners Association of Alberta (COAA) Best Practices Conference on 19-20 May to allow workshop participants to witness innovation being put into practice. The COAA is a leading group of owners representing many sectors of the Alberta industrial construction community. The annual COAA event has been held for the past 16 years and is attended by over 400 delegates.
At the COAA Best Practices Conference, the CIB TG58 will have an information booth and will run a workshop session to promote the CIB and the efforts of TG58. The conference, held in downtown Edmonton, kicks off with an evening social on 19 May, followed by a full-day of interactive workshops highlighting best practices initiatives and developments.
