Construction Innovation PHD scholar, Judy Kraatz recently presented a paper Mapping Values – Aligning Project Outcomes with Brisbane City Council’s (BCC) “Living in Brisbane” 2026 Themes at the Centre for Subtropical Design’s Subtropical Cities 2008 conference.
Her doctoral research has involved the development and implementation of a value-mapping framework that links project-specific indicators (via a set of project-based objectives) to pre-existing corporate objectives and values. The research incorporated three collaborative case studies with the BCC on major economic infrastructure projects in
Brisbane ― the
EleanorSchonellBridge, the Hale Street Link and the Northern Link.
Judy’s research demonstrates that linking to the corporate objectives provides greater decision-making transparency, increased rigour in establishing project objectives and greater awareness of project opportunities beyond those delivered within the project budget and contractual arrangement.
