Queensland Budget Impact on Construction

At this breakfast event held Thursday June 9, the Honourable Minister Robert Schwarten MP provided a frank and informative insight into the impact to the Queensland construction sector arising out of the budget delivered by Treasurer Mackenroth on 7 June. In his speech, the Minister for Public Works, Housing and Racing outlined the detailed initiatives behind the $8 billion capital investment in infrastructure programmed for 2005-06. This includes the refurbishment of the former Health and Welfare Building at 63 George to create additional government office space, the Boggo Road Redevelopment and expansions to the Queensland State Archives.

Minister Schwarten confirmed the strong ongoing support by the Queensland Government for the CRC for Construction Innovation and its long-term commitment to support the CRCs renewal bid. He also acknowledged the practical value of the CRCs research outcomes and urged industry to support the CRC through its upcoming renewal bid.
