Implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Australia 
CRC for Construction Innovation “National BIM Guidelines and Case Studies Project”
In late July, two industry presentations chaired by Tom Fussell, Queensland Department of Public Works were held in Sydney and Brisbane. Attendees came from a broad spectrum of the construction industry: owners, designers, constructors, operators and from the public and private sectors.
The first draft of the guidelines was presented, and an overview provided of Australian case studies that have implemented BIM technology in a range of varying project types and disciplines. 
The presentation was an initial step for greater industry involvement in developing national guidelines. The first draft provides an overall structure and content outline for industry discussions.

The sessions generated a large number of questions and comments and follow-up is expected over the next month.
A second round of presentations is planned for mid October in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne where industry feedback will be sought.
