Construction Innovation is pleased to announce the release of two new publications developed from the Wayfinding in the Built Environment Project.
The project identified wayfinding systems, technologies and devices appropriate for people with a sensory impairment, particularly people with vision impairment.
The Wayfinding publications have been developed to provide practical solutions to help designers, developers, property owners and managers do their part in creating a more accessible, more inclusive built environment.
The Wayfinding system audit publication is an important resource that includes a design audit and checklist to help designers, developers, property owners and managers do their part in improving access to buildings, properties and spaces for all people.
The Wayfinding design guidelines publication is an important resource that provides practical and cost-effective solutions to help designers, developers, property owners and managers do their part in improving access to buildings, properties and spaces for all people.
The Wayfinding project has received wide recognition amongst industry and won the Queensland Government's 2007
Disability Action Week Award in the Building and Accessible Environments Category.
Queensland's Department of Public Works was a key participant in the project, along with the CSIRO, the Queensland University of Technology, the Australian Building Codes Board and the Building Commission.
Disability Services Queensland has supported the publication of the Wayfinding booklets.
