Free industry research showcase for Sydney

Being the Best & BRITE Innovation Gallery 2007 Publications by Karen Manley

A symposium showcasing major research initiatives in safety, Innovation and Building Information Modelling will be held in Sydney on Monday 4 June.

The symposium is the second research showcase organised by Construction Innovation, following a successful earlier event held in Perth in February.

The event is free and open to anyone from large organisations to SMEs, research organisations and public sector agencies, interested in learning more about major research initiatives in the building and construction industry.

Topics include building innovation in organisations, based on the findings from Construction Innovations highly successful BRITE project. This project has achieved major success in promoting innovation, particularly amongst SMEs. A new publication, Being the Best, for contractors who want to improve their innovation outcomes and business performance, will be launched at the Symposium and available free of charge.

The development of a draft voluntary code of practice (VCOP) for safety in the building and construction industry will be discussed, and feedback from industry is sought. Other safety research initiatives to be discussed include the Construction Site Safety Competency framework and implementation, and safety effectiveness indictors.

The Sydney symposium will also present information on Building Information Model (BIM) and new developments to promote industry uptake of digital modelling technology.

The event will be held at Level 9, Bovis Lend Lease, 30 Hickson Road, Millers Point in Sydney.
