Enhancing performance through virtual prototyping??? This project was an investigation of the following CRC Construction Innovation software packages: - LCADesign
- Automated Estimator
- Code Checker (now DesignCheck)
- Automated Scheduler
The associated Viewer, integrated into Automated Estimator and used in LCADesign, was also utilised as an independent tool to view the 3D CAD models. Each software package was applied to a set of example buildings provided by industry partners, which existed in 3D CAD form. The necessary databases were checked, and the building models modified to suit the requirements of the software, and the software assessed for their application in practice as required. The objective of this activity was to evaluate a sample of commercial buildings using each software package, and a specifically targeted upgrade of the life cycle inventory database, to identify the capabilities of each software package in addressing user requirements. Building models were provided by industry partners as follows: - Woods Bagot Office building in Canberra
- Brisbane City Council Podium levels of office building being constructed
- Woods Bagot Office Building being constructed by Multiplex
- Queensland Department of Public Works Double story building
- Melbourne City Council Council House 1
