At this breakfast event held Thursday June 9, the HonourableMinister Robert Schwarten MP provided a frank and informative insightinto the impact to the Queensland construction sector arising out ofthe budget delivered by Treasurer Mackenroth on 7 June. In his speech,the Minister for Public Works, Housing and Racing outlined the detailedinitiatives behind the $8 billion capital investment in infrastructureprogrammed for 2005-06. This includes the refurbishment of the formerHealth and Welfare Building at 63 George to create additionalgovernment office space, the Boggo Road Redevelopment and expansions tothe Queensland State Archives.
Minister Schwarten confirmed the strong ongoing support by theQueensland Government for the CRC for Construction Innovation and itslong-term commitment to support the CRCs renewal bid. He alsoacknowledged the practical value of the CRCs research outcomes andurged industry to support the CRC through its upcoming renewal bid.
