The key aims of the Your Building project include:
create a one-stop knowledge bank explaining the 'why' and 'how' of sustainable commercial buildingand influence changes in market behaviours
bring together and research expertise, skills and knowledge to develop best practice and innovative content
build the capacity of the industry in sustainable knowledge transfer and implementation
to demonstrate the strategic benefits of sustainable commercial buildings in terms of the triple bottom line
Initial research
Much of the initial work of the project has centred on involving stakeholders. An industry-wide web survey was used initially to inform and gauge interest. This was followed upin January 2006 witha scoping workshop in Sydney. These two intiatives have involved many of Australia's leading sustainability experts.
Feedback from these initiatives has created a desire toestablishcommon definitions, measurement and calculation standards. Experts also highlighted the need for 'real-life'case studiesthat highlight the effects onall user groups: owners, creators, occupants andfacility managers. Recognising the needs of each of these user groups is a key to the success of the project.
