| The Construction Innovation Research Library provides access to a large range of documents produced by our CRC. It is organised by subject areas within programs A, B and C and the ICT platform. Use the outline below to take you to the relevant documents by clicking on the headings in the green panels. You can also locate library documents using the search feature or through our publications section. Program B Sustainable built assets The objective of Program B is to drive healthy and sustainable constructed assets and optimise the environmental impact of built facilities through: - sound conceptual basis for economic, social and environmental accounting of the built environment
- virtual building technology to examine design performance prior to documentation, construction and use
- assessing human health and productivity benefits of smart indoor environments.
Virtual prototyping of built environments Construction Innovation activity to date includes research and development in: - assessing the capacity of object-based CAD systems to support automated checking of designs for code-based compliance
- how building design can be optimised using parametric modelling
- computer software tool that automatically generates a bill of quantities and cost estimates from a 3D CAD building model (Automated Estimator)
All software tools in the CRC Construction Innovation suite have been trialled on real projects for which 3D CAD models were provided by industry partners. Sustainable commercial buildings Construction Innovation activity to date includes research and development of key issues relevant to commercial buildings including: - the impact of the over-specification of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems
- an investigation of the use of data mining techniques in building life cycle modelling
- the development of LCADesign -- life-cycle environmental appraisal software
- a review of literature relating to productivity and indoor air quality
- research determining the degradation in natural ventilation between BoM monitoring stations and a variety of dwelling types and then verifying and quantifying the role natural ventilation in cooling residences in subtropical climates
- available smart technologies and their application
- life prediction of the durability of materials and the applicability of a case-based reasoning paradigm for a software tool for lifetime prediction of metallic building components
- research designed to assist in the delivery of demonstrably superior green buildings.
Sustainable urban buildings Construction Innovation activity to date includes research and development of key issues relevant to sustainable urban developments including: - energy-efficient subdivisions
- urban road noise and relevant decision support frameworks and tools
- microclimate assessment for inner city environments.
Construction Innovation activity to date includes research and development of key issues including: - a literature survey on indoor environments, productivity and occupant health
- smart technologies and their potential application for improved indoor environments.
Construction Innovation activity to date includes research and development relating to: - the provision of information relating to sustainability and the Future Building Code of Australia
- development of a web-based information portal that that will provide answers regarding how to finance, design, occupy and manage a sustainable commercial building.
